How to get the WhatsApp Business API in India: a step-by-step guide
What you need before you start, how Meta’s Embedded Signup works, and how to go from sign-up to your first customer message in a day.
Getting the WhatsApp Business API used to take weeks of paperwork. Today, through a Meta tech provider like Wapify, most businesses are live the same day. Here is the full process.
What you need before you start
Keep these ready:
- A Facebook account that can manage your business on Meta Business Manager (one is created during sign-up if you do not have it).
- A phone number that can receive an SMS or call for the one-time code. It can be a new number or one you move from the WhatsApp Business app.
- Your business name and website, if you have one. The display name customers see must match your business.
- Business documents such as GST certificate or Udyam registration, for business verification later.
Step 1: Create your account
Sign up on Wapify and start the free trial. No card is needed to try the dashboard.
Step 2: Connect WhatsApp with Embedded Signup
Click Connect WhatsApp. A Meta window opens where you log in with Facebook, choose or create your business portfolio, add your display name and verify your phone number with a one-time code. When you finish, the number appears in your dashboard.
Step 3: Create message templates
Messages you start (offers, reminders, order updates) must use templates that Meta approves first. Write them in the Templates page; approval usually takes minutes to a few hours.
Step 4: Start messaging
Reply to customers from the team inbox, send your first campaign, and switch on a bot for common questions. Put your chat link and QR code on your website and shop counter so customers can start chats.
Step 5: Verify your business
New numbers start with a daily limit on how many customers you can message first. Completing Meta business verification and keeping a good quality rating raises this limit over time. Our team can do the verification for you.
