How to get the WhatsApp green tick (Official Business Account)
What the green badge means, who can get it, what Meta checks and how to improve your chances.
The green tick (now shown as a verified badge) tells customers that WhatsApp has confirmed the account belongs to a real, well-known brand. It builds trust, but it is not required to use the WhatsApp API.
Before you request it
Meta looks for businesses that are notable and verified. Make sure you have:
- Completed Meta business verification for your business portfolio
- A display name that matches your brand
- Two-step verification turned on for the number
- Press coverage in well-known, independent publications — paid or promotional articles do not count
- An active website and social profiles with the same brand name
If your request is rejected
Rejections are common for smaller brands. You can apply again after some time, once you have more independent press coverage. Meanwhile, a complete profile with logo, description, address and website already makes your account look trustworthy.
